Dominik Wein – Not just ART: "A brand new genre"

Dominik Wein merges film, photography, digital, and traditional ART with storytelling.

Born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, Dominik grew up in South Africa. He began painting at the age of seven and sold his first oil painting — a portrait of William Shakespeare — at 21.

Wein completed his secondary education and went on to study design in Johannesburg. His artistic journey led him through various internships in film and digital imaging in Los Angeles and Munich, where he further honed his skills.

In the 1990s, he became one of Europe’s most sought-after digital artists, creating groundbreaking digital collages for renowned brands such as FOCUS, ELLE, the Jane Goodall Institute, and Virgin Records.

A milestone was the creation of the first digital art poster for FC Bayern Munich, followed by an Oktoberfest-themed poster. Additionally, high-tech paintings on canvas, feat. Porsche and other major brands.

Wein was among the pioneers to blend digital processes with traditional art and even developed a hybrid digital/analog camera that integrated film into his works.

His work took on new dimensions with the 53-minute documentary BLACK WHITE BLUR, accompanied by an exhibition.

Despite of his success, the art world urged him to commit to ONE style only!

So, from 2010, Wein responded by creating THE HISTORY EXHIBITION. In this innovative project, he worked under various pseudonyms to explore a wide range of artistic styles — each with its own narrative. The concept was a major success with both the art scene and the press and was showcased in numerous galleries. During this period, Wein’s artistic identity became synonymous with a dynamic and versatile creative approach.

From the still silence of photography to the timeless grace of classical painting…
From the raw energy of action painting to the delicate beauty of butterfly forms…
Through the vivid chaos of abstraction, the precision of digital composing…

The boundless frontier of AI-generated art, and the moving poetry of film—
Dominik Wein does not walk a single road,
He speaks in many voices, paints with many souls.

Each medium becomes a language.
Each style, a doorway to a different world.

Dominik Wein’s art is not only extraordinary but also constantly evolving.

His works remain powerful, passionate, and innovative — a reflection of his ongoing dedication to pushing the limits of art.

But above all, what matters most to him is The story behind the ARTWORK.
